===category===
This required parameter accepts the category of the update. This is generally at the top of the update article on the RuneScape website.

===link===
The template will attempt to automatically generate the link to the jagex news article. This optional parameter can be used to provide the link to Jagex's article on the RuneScape website in the case where the template cannot automatically generate it.

===rev===
This optional parameter accepts the revision date. Jagex occasionally adds additional system updates and hot fixes to patch notes that have already been published. The date should not be linked and can be in any format accepted by [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:ParserFunctions#.23time #time].

===time===
This optional parameter is meant for maintenance categorization of historical pre-osrs updates. This should not be used for updates after 10 August 2007

===article===
Specify this parameter if the newspost title corresponds (almost) exactly with an article, and specify which article it should refer to. This will add a large notice at the top of the update page informing people that they are reading a transcript of the newspost. See [[Update:A Kingdom Divided]] for an example.

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Old School RuneScape Wiki/Recent Updates.
It contains usage information, categories, and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template is used to contain the recent updates section of the Main Page.

Usage

Updates are displayed with the help of {{Recent updates}}.

  • The image shown on the tiles should be named "File:Main page - [update name].png", have an aspect ratio of roughly 4:3 and should not have any transparency. The image should be taken ingame, possibly showcasing the content introduced with the newspost. The image should also be archived in RuneScape:Gallery/Files so it will not be counted as an unused file upon the removal of the update entry.
  • The link parameter may be modified to instead link to a related page to the newspost for major content updates.
  • The desc for each update comes from the official Old School RuneScape website's summary (easily accessed through its RSS feed). The description may be expanded if it is too undescriptive of the content added to the game.
