Verac's brassard offers significantly less [[melee]] and [[ranged]] protection than [[Guthan's platebody|Guthan]], [[Torag's platebody|Torag]] and [[Dharok's platebody|Dharok's]] platebodies (which all have equal stats), however it is better than the [[Rune platebody]], with the exception of having -1 stab defence bonus. Because of this, Verac's brassard is rarely seen being used outside of the full set. However, Verac's brassard does not penalise ranged and [[magic]] attack bonuses nearly as much as regular melee armour.
Wearing the full set will provide an additional effect that may be buffed even further using the [[Amulet of the Damned]].
 
While the equipment does not degrade from use, the broken variant can still be obtained. This item can be repaired by the [[Weird Old Man]] outside the [[Barrows]] [[minigame]] for 250K coins.
If Verac's brassard is worn along with all of the other pieces of equipment in Verac's set, the player receives the Defiler set effect. With this set effect active, player attacks have a chance (averaging 1/4) of hitting through an opponent's [[defence]] and [[prayer]] entirely. This effect can be devastating towards tank opponents who rely on high defence.
